Tabarka is a small fishing town located north west of Tunisia (Jendouba), near the Algerian border between sea and mountains.
Tabarka has been known since antiquity. It was a Phoenician as of Thrabaca. It was under Roman rule it enjoyed its growth through exports Chemtou marble, cork, cereals, olive oil and mining products. In the sixteenth century Charles V had gift of the city to the Genoese who built a fort. They developed fishing and coral work.
Tabarka region is currently experiencing a significant development of the tourism sector and thanks to its beautiful beach and forestry potential and the existence of an excellent tourist infrastructure
