The clock Testour restart, this Wednesday, November 12th!

Unique in the world, the clock of the Minaret of the Great Mosque of Testour (northwest) march again, and, as she had always done, ie in the opposite direction to clockwise.

The inauguration will be done this Wednesday, November 12 in the presence of the inhabitants of the city who, through their donations, saved their cultural heritage, announces the Goethe Institute in its newsletter.

The restoration of the clock whose numbers are placed upside down too, were conducted by the Association for the Safeguard of the Medina Testour (ASM), residents and city friends who collected donations to repair the metal needles, timer and installation.

Indeed, the restoration of the old mechanism "is a successful example" of the Tunisian-German project "The architectural heritage in Tunisia," launched in March 2012 and conducted under the supervision of the Goethe Institute.

Reconsider the physical setting of the monuments but also the role of the local population in an effort to preserve the architectural and cultural heritage of Tunisia in seeking to know his point of view in relation to the heritage of their town or village is the central idea this project called "Meamarouna" (our architecture).

With this in mind, start the clock running is a participatory process that involved right from the start all stakeholders and seeks ownership of assets by the population and the establishment of a joint effort between the company and the state, by raising public awareness when the importance of preserving the historical heritage of the region.
